As you all know, Tihu College has been one of the aging institutions of quality higher education in Lower Assam, catering to the thirst for knowledge in the rural majority in this part of I the state. It has been our noble venture over the last five decades to bring the benefit of higher education to the rural folk, to the poorer and downtrodden sections of society, promoting socio- j economic upliftment and empowering them to lead a confident and meaningful life. This is at par with the very motto of the college. Since its inception in 1963, everyone associated with this institution has immensely contributed to the progress of the community and society at large. It's apparent from the variety of services our alumni have been rendering not only within the district, but within and outside the state scenario too, thus creating and maintaining a healthy tradition of generation and dissemination of knowledge in society.
Development of skill component in community is an integral part of higher education in today's technology driven age. Our institution has been pioneering one in this regard within the entire district. With an eye on this, our institution has been rendering skill based courses in Food Processing under the Community College Scheme of the UGC. It has also been preparing to introduce more such courses in Photographic Video Production and Fashion Technology, the proposals of which have already been sent to the UGC. The Institutional Bio-Tech Hub has been facilitating vistas to upgrade modern techniques in Bio-Technology. Concentrating on boosting the modern technological consciousness in our students, our institution has been rendering classes with modern scientific paraphernalia like digital and multimedia classrooms.Moreover, quality training sessions and career counselling for all of you opting for competitive examination en route to services are also equally entertained.
Education brings in upliftment of the aesthetic sense and, in turn, this aesthetic sense generates a conducive atmosphere to attain meaningful education. It's been my priority to make Tihu College a beautiful institution and you will all be delighted to know that more than a couple of beautiful gardens are there to complement a green and serene atmosphere of the clean College campus.
Maintenance of quality is of first importance in case of any educational institution. Our College was assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore in 2004 and 2016 accredited B+ grade. We are expecting for a re-accreditation by the NAAC within the current academic session itself.
